Everyone in the practice now has a named GP. If you are unsure who yours is then please ask at reception, but please remember that you can still see whichever GP you prefer.
Closed Circuit Television is installed at the practice premises for the purpose of staff, patient and premises security. Cameras are located at various places on the premises, and images from the camera are recorded. The practice follows the recommendations issued by the Data Protection Commissioner in accordance with powers under Section 51 of the 1998 Data protection Act.
Accessible Information Standard
The Accessible information standard is a new law to make sure that people who have a disability or sensory loss are given information they can easily read or understand. Please inform us if you have any communication support needs.

In addition to GP consultations the practice adheres offers a range of clinics and healthcare services:
Diabetes - once you have been diagnosed with diabetes you will have regular check-ups with the practice nurse and doctor. Normally you are seen twice a year.
Asthma - the practice nurses run the asthma clinics within the practice. The doctors and nurse practitioners will also see you if you have an acute problem. If you are using inhalers for asthma you should be seen at least once a year by the nurse.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) - the practice nurses run clinics for patients with COPD. The doctors or nurse practitioners will also see you if you have an acute problem with your breathing. Patients with this disease should be seen at least once a year
Coronary Heart Disease - people who have had heart problems are seen at least twice a year by the doctor or pratice nurse. Prior to seeing the nurse or doctor a blood sample is taken and your urine is tested.
Contraception - currently the practice provides an implanon fitting service along with all other forms of contraception. We do not insert Intra Uterine devices here but can refer you to the family planning clinic.
Lifestyle -including help and advice on exercise, weight, smoking, alcohol and diet and cholesterol. We have a dietician that comes to our Hempnall surgery once every two weeks. A referral to her can be made by your GP or nurse practitioner.
Blood Pressure - we have a number of home omrons that we loan out to our patients. This gives you the ability to check your blood pressure readings over the course of a week. Following the request from one of the clinicians, your name will be put on a waiting list for one of the machines. When one of them becomes available, we will get in contact with you.

Anticoagulation Check - weekly clinics are run at both sites for anticoagulation monitoring. We offer a simple procedure to check INR’s and prescribe the necessary anticoagulation.
Ear syringing - our practice nurses help treat patients who need their ears syringing. We ask patients that are wishing to have their ears syringed to put olive oil in for 2 weeks prior to having an appointment.

Midwifery - all the doctors provide full midwifery services and our attached midwives from the Wherry Team can be contacted via the telephone number in the maternity pack.
Using the NHS 'fit for travel' website - http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/ we provide NHS vaccinations which are recommended and required for safe travel to your chosen destination.
We are able to provide the following NHS vaccinations at no cost to the patient.
To enable us to assess the vaccinations you may require, you should complete a Travel Questionnaire at least 6 weeks before your departure. This gives us time to assess your needs and book you in for an appointment if needed. You can download a copy of the Travel Questionnaire
The completed questionnaire should be return to the Practice as soon as possible and we will contact you to book any appointments necessary. We hold most NHS travel vaccinations in stock and so we should be able to administer them during your visit. If a course is required, it may be necessary to visit us again for subsequent vaccination.
We should have a record of any vaccinations you have received on the NHS but may not have information about private immunisations. Therefore please bring any information you have along with your questionnaire.
